The new taxon differs from all other known species of this family by only having 1 very short tooth on peronite 7, a short mid-dorsal tooth on pleonites 1–2 and an upright short tooth on pleonite 3. The new taxon does not bear the conspicuous spine-like seta on the posterior margin of the propodi of pereopods 3 and 4 that are characteristic for many Amathillopsis species.
