ResumoThe triplet state population for Rhodamine 6G and Rhodamine B in viscous solvents is investigated in a free flow cw dye laser. By measuring small signal gain vs wavelength and residual cavity losses the values of kSTτT (triplet crossover rate times triplet lifetime) are determined. The obtained values for Rd 6 G are, 0.77 in 2,2 oxydiethanol, 0.80 in ethylene glycol, 1.60 in n-decanol and 1.62 in benzyl alcohol. Possible factors influencing the triplet population are discussed.
