ResumoThis paper addresses the design conditions, detailed design and chosen solution for the unique immersed tunnel of the Busan - Geoje Fixed Highway Link project in Korea. The concrete tunnel carrying 2 x 2 lanes, which will be at world record depth of 47 m, will be located in offshore conditions in an area prone to typhoons, earthquakes and swell wave.
