The punchmarks in particular are subjected to detailed analysis. A close relationship between especially the belt fittings and late-Roman metalwork from Britain and the Continent is confirmed, while punchmark links are discovered between formally diverse Quoit-brooch-style artifacts. The technical consistency of the group and its association with late-Roman workmanship appear to be its strongest unifying characteristics. Technology can thus be argued to have been a significant and active component in the material culture of early post-Roman Britain/England.
