ResumoBased upon the theory that MS is an acquired autoimmune disease and not purely genetically defined, complete ablation of the defective immune system and replacement with a naive non-disease-causing system de novo from stem cells autologously-obtained should lead to a long-lasting remission of disease. The rationale and methodology are discussed along with recommendations for patient selection. Results of several small studies are presented along with some preliminary results from the ongoing Canadian effort.
