Resumo

A procedure utilizing a scintillation camera and 99mTc pertechnetate is described forpreoperative identification of Meckel's diverticulum containing ectopic gastric mucosa. Five children with rectal bleeding of undiagnosed cause were studied with this technique. Positive results were found in two of them, and surgical exploration confirmed the diagnosis in each one. The mechanism of the test procedure is discussed, and precautions to be taken to avoid false results are enumerated.
