Resumo

Abstract The variation of the fission cross-section of U 235 has been compared with that of the boron ( n , α) cross-section, for neutron energies ( E n ) within the range 0·005 eV E n E n σ fliss to an accuracy of better than 2 per cent. Values are given for the effective fission cross-section of a thin sample in a ( dE/E ) neutron spectrum, averaged over four energy intervals within the range 0·8 eV to 100 eV.
