Neurotransmitter Receptor Influence on Behavior

The Tension Reduction Hypothesis of alcohol use is examined in the light of recent criticism. Contrary to the conclusions of Cappell and Herman (1972) it is argued that the hypothesis is supported by evidence from animal research in most cases where an appropriate paradigm has been employed.
