In this work, selective separation of the rare earth metals was attempted by Donnan dialysis. As the selectivity obtained with conventional Donnan dialysis is not sufficiently high, especially in the separation of metals with the same electric charge, we used a modified Donnan dialysis in which a water-soluble complexing agent (diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid, abbreviated as DTPA or H 5 D) was added to the feed phase
