Cytomegalovirus and herpesvirus research

Background: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a significant cause of morbidity in heart transplantation. New diagnostic tools (CMV-PCR) and treatment options (ganciclovir GCV) have been adopted. The aim of this analysis was to evaluate the incidence of CMV infection (Inf)/disease (Dis) between 2002–2008 in comparison with earlier eras.
