ResumoAbstract The phase transitions: smectic A–isotropic, smectic A–smectic C and smectic C–smectic H have been studied in DOBAMBC by X-ray diffraction. Interplanar spacing d and intermolecular distance D have been determined. X-ray critical scattering by fluctuations of smectic A phase in isotropic liquid in the vicinity of the phase transition point has been investigated. The critical indices: β = 0.30 ± 0.05, γ = 1.33 ± 0.04, v∥ = 0.54 ± 0.03 and v ⊊ = 0.31 ± 0.08 have been extracted from the data.
