ResumoAoste (Isère), a small Romanlike uicus of the city of Vienne, was founded by Augustus perhaps to settle the office of the Gallia Narbonensis collectors of the twentieth freed slaves tax. A rather significant set of inscriptions and archeological documents assert that presently it is the only urban area within the city of Vienne to show such an industrial aspect with its ceramics, glass, plumber's and metal workshops. Through these documents we can study the juridical status as well as the denomination and the social and economic activity of its inhabitants ; we can also have a closer look at the religious practices and the evergetic behaviours of the small part of the population which could afford to have an inscription engraved.
