ResumoSUMMARY The Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH) has introduced a new type of evaluation. Unlike traditional types of evaluation, this gives students an opportunity to exercise an on-going influence upon their own situation. For each subject that is evaluated, a co–ordinator, the lecturer and some of the students meet regularly to discuss the way the teaching is progressing. If necessary, other lecturers are present at these meetings. At the end of each semester, all the students in the class fill in a questionnaire. Once every semester, all the pedagogical co–ordinators meet and report to those responsible for academic teaching at NTH. This evaluation procedure was started in September 1986, and has been positively received by students and lecturers alike.
