Palaeocene ostracods from Israel are described for the first time. From four sections from the northern Negev, a common to rare ostracods assemblage, consisting of twenty species belonging to fourteen genera, was recovered. The ostracod faunas indicate an outer shelf — upper slope environment with normal marine conditions. Many of the ostracod taxa have a long stratigraphical range (Santonian/Campanian — Eocene) and a wide geographical distribution throughout the Middle East and Africa. Martinicythere bassiounii is described as a new species. Des Ostracodes provenant du Paléocène d'Israël sont décrits et illustrés ici pour la première fois. Quatre coupes situées au Neguev du Nord ont fourni des associations ostracodologiques. Les individus sont fréquents à rares et appartiennent à vingt espèces, attribuées à quatorze genres. Cette faune indique un milieu de dépôt marin ouvert, compris entre la plate-forme et la partie supérieure du talus continental. Plusieurs espèces ont une grande répartition stratigraphique (Santonien/Campanien — Eocène) et géographique au Moyen-Orient et en Afrique. Martinicythere bassiounii est décrite en tant qu'espèce nouvelle.
