Abstract Linear-polarization measurements of the continuum and line profiles of H-alpha and H-beta are presented for the Be star Gamma Cas. These data are used, together with polarization measurements of the H-alpha line, continuum measures in the visible and UV, as well as an upper limit on the radio flux, in an attempt to obtain a realistic model for the circumstellar envelope of Gamma Cas. Several models are computed, the choice of parameters for a model that gives a reasonable fit to most of the data is discussed, and model fluxes and polarizations at 33 wavelengths are predicted. It is shown that the envelope emission is a significant component of the total flux at all wavelengths except shortward of 2000 A, that the envelope absorbs about 10% of the stellar flux at UV and visible wavelengths, and that the polarization of the scattered fluxes ranges between 15% and 18%, depending on wavelength.
