ResumoTwo patients with Ramsay Hunt syndrome with unusual manifestations are described. The first patient had a cranial polyneuropathy with herpes zoster uveitis and anhidrosis of the face, and the second patient had erysipelas of the nose and auricle followed by facial nerve paresis and mild cochleo-vestibular symptoms. On the basis of the histologic, viral and immunologic findings, it is suggested that this syndrome and Bell's palsy are different clinical manifestations of the same disease. Thus, Hunt's classification and the idiopathy of bell's palsy are probably no longer tenable.
