We examined the properties of strong ground motions in this earthquake using the records released by GeoNet (http://www.geonet.org.nz/). We also investigated the damage around the seismic stations to determine the relationship between structural damage and strong ground motions. The locations of the seismic stations in our study are shown in Figure 1.
