Preliminary results on new thin‐layer solid‐state lithium batteries with unique characteristics which make them of interest for the consumer electronic market are reported. The novelty of these lithium batteries is that they use low resistance cathode materials in combination with highly conductive polymer electrolytes. This combination gives flat (constant voltage) discharge curves, a limited but yet significant cycling life, and a high power capability at ambient and subambient temperatures.
