Because enlargement of the sella turcica has also been reported in untreated patients with primary gonadal insufficiency (for example, Klinefelter's and Turner's syndromes) (3, 4), it has been hypothesized that prolonged target-hormone insufficiency may lead to hyperplastic or adenomatous transformation of the pituitary trophic cells. Our report adds evidence for this hypothesis, documenting for the first time sella turcica enlargement in two patients with primary adrenal insufficiency.Patient 1: A 21-year-old man presented in 1939 with a 2-year history of increasing skin pigmentation, salt-craving, and a 16-kg...References1.
