ResumoToday, through molecular biology, we see opportunities for the development of a host of new antiviral agents. This biologic revolution, which has produced a number of immunologic and genetic approaches to antiviral therapy in addition to the use of increasingly sophisticated biochemicals, will require much more study. For the large numbers of agents that can be tested against virus infections, particularly those involving the respiratory tract, the delivery of drugs in liposome aerosols further may enhance their potential for treatment while minimizing their toxicity.
