ResumoAbstract Doped PZT compositions, near the morphotropic phase boundary, were prepared by solid state reaction of adequate submicronic powder oxides. Isopressed pellets were sintered between 1090 and 1200°C, for times ranging from 1 to 8 H. High density bodies were obtained in a wide temperature range. Two different behaviours were observed when doping with donor or acceptor cation. Whereas the grain size was controlled to 1μm value for acceptor doping, grain growth occurs when donor doping was made. Nevertheless the grain growth was moderated, and both microstructures were rather homogeneous. Dielectric and piezoelectric properties were determined, and a comparative study respect to the doping nature was carried out.
