ResumoThe phase diagram Ag2SAs2S3 was re-studied by means of differential thermal analysis (DTA). Two stable phases, proustite, Ag3AsS3, and smithite, AgAsS2, occurred. In quenched melts, two other phases, xanthoconite and an unknown compound, were observed. Two liquidus curves were obtained depending upon the treatment of the sample used for DTA. Crystals of proustite, smithite, and pyrargyrite, Ag3SbS3, were grown by the Bridgman technique. A sharp temperature gradient and low growth rate were necessary to obtain good single crystals.
