ResumoAn expression for reversible linear sweep voltammograms at microband electrodes was derived by application of an approximate equation for the chronoamperometric curve. The voltammogram has a parameter p = (nFvw2/RTD)12, where v is the potential sweep rate, w is the width of the microband electrode and D is the diffusion coefficient. The voltammogram approaches a quasi-steady state as the values of p decrease. The peak current was evaluated as a function of p and an analytical approximate equation was derived. In order to examine the validity of the equation, an experimental study was made at platinum microband electrodes (w = 0.02–0.2 mm). The peak currents measured experimentally were in good agreement with those predicted theoretically for various values of the sweep rate and different widths of the electrodes.
