Abstract A few complexes of tin(IV) chloride with some Schiff bases have been prepared in benzene medium. The complexes are orange red in colour and amorphous. The elemental analysis shows that these are 1:1 or 1:2 adducts. They are nonelectrolytes in DMF. On the basis of the infrared spectra and conductance measurements the coordination number six and eight are proposed to the complexes.
