Resumo

Oochoristica javaensis n. sp. is described from the intestines of geckoes, Gehyra mutilata (type host), Cosymbotus platyurus, and Hemidactylus frenatus from Bogor, Java, Indonesia. The seven species of Oochoristica described from geckoes (Gekkonidae) are divided into two groups according to the number of testes present (20–35, and >40). Oochoristica javaensis n. sp., with 20–35 testes, is distinguished from three of the four species in this group in having smaller acetabula and from O. jodhpurensis (the only species in this group with smaller acetabula) in having larger cirrus sacs, gravid segments, and oncospheres. These last-named features serve to further separate O. javaensis n. sp. from other species of Oochoristica. The prevalence and worm burden of O. javaensis n. sp. in seven species of lizards (Lacertilia) collected in Java, Indonesia is provided.
