ResumoCongenital short femur is a rare and complex deformity. A case of congenital short femur in an otherwise healthy infant is described. Antenatal sonographic diagnosis was made at 15 weeks of gestation. The left femur was shorter than the right, 9.9 mm in length on the left and 17.8 mm on the right femur. he other long bones lengths were not affected. In this case, the occurrence of congenital short femur was sporadic. The diagnosis was confirmed after delivery. This case illustrates the importance of ultrasound as an early detector of certain congenital anomalies and as a useful tool in their follow-up. The early intrauterine detection by means of ultrasound may enable us to calculate the ratio between the length of the short femur and that of the normal one and to plan for corrective surgery at a later date.
