ResumoSummary The effect of several oil/water systems on the heat resistance of spores of Bacillus subtilis and vegetative cells of Pseudomonas fluorescens has been investigated. Heat resistance was higher in the presence of oil and greatest without added water. an explanation of the phenomena observed is suggested in terms of differences in water activity between the systems.
