Resumo

The Turkish cxcavations at Kültepc-Kanish (or ash Hili) started in 1948 and continucd cvery year since then, and sponsored by thc Turkish Historical Society and thc Department of Antiquilies, have greatly added to thc general knovvledge of the arca by bringing lo light both the Karum and the city-mound of Kanish In the Karum (originally “haibor” later dcvclopcd a sccond meaning “Colony”) of Kanislı four main building levels, I to IV, were excavated, and the vai'ious building levels on the city-mound dating from the Early Bronze .Age up to Roman times have been investigated.
