They occurred in two Americans living in Brazil, both with a previous history of rhus dermatitis (poison ivy) in the United States. This type of contact dermatitis does not exist among native Brazilians, because poisonous rhus plants do not exist in Brazil. The sap of rhus plants contains catechols that cross react with oleoresins from mango rind (Mangifera indica) and cashew oil (Anacardium occidentale).A 43-year-old white woman and a 45-year-old white man...References1.
