Resumo

We have examined the developmental profile of the α-1 and α-2 adrenergic receptor mRNA expression in the rat iris. The expression of the six mRNAs was studied using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. At 4 weeks, the dominant mRNA transcripts in the rat iris were α-1B, α-1C and α-2A. This pattern of alpha adrenoceptor expression was seen from birth, throughout development, and maintained into old age.
