Resumo

Information obtained from the cemetery of Balloy (Seine-et-Marne) sheds new light on the functioning of the one at Passy (Yonne). Through topography, orientation and morphology, associations of two or three monuments can be identified. The associated monuments are not however twins; the eastern "facade" of one always has a particular arrangement. As at Balloy, the burials display a "status " in death which determines their distribution: individuals with "Eiffel Tower" spatulas, for example, are never associated. The Passy cemetery probably functioned by reproducing a basic module over a long period of time. The module consisted of two (or three) monuments with only three to four graves, as at Gron.
