ResumoWe investigate new excited states of quarks and leptons in the light of weak isospin invariance. We find to first order that while quark states with isospin assignment IW = 0, 12 are dominantly decaying strongly, IW = 1, 32 quark s can only decay electroweakly. Decay of higher isospin assignments are permitted only in higher orders. Experimental signatures are considered. Production cross section and decay branching ratios are given. It is also found that IW ⩾ 1 quarks, will give rise to “exotic” hadrons, namely mesons of charges ±2e and baryons with charge 3e.
