Click to increase image sizeClick to decrease image size Notes Remember that in Bryan Singer's (2003) X2: Mutants United Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) desperately seeks the recognition of his ‘father’ William Stryker (Brian Cox). In Italian author Carlo Callodi's Le Avventure di Pinocchio (1883), before the automaton is carved by the benevolent Gepetto, it ‘appears’ in the workshop of another woodworker, Maestro (Master) Cherry. In the cult film, Donnie Darko (2001), Donnie's teacher Karen Pomeroy (Drew Barrymore) is fired when a spurious connection is made between her classroom curriculum and an act of school vandalism. Barred from pleading her case by an unsympathetic school administor, Pomeroy leaves the school, whereupon she unleashes a primal scream of hitherto sublimated zoe.
