Discrimination between striations of different orientation was studied in the rabbit. Discrimination between striations at 45° and 135° to the horizontal was found to be as readily performed as that between vertical vs. horizontal striations. It was shown that this discrimination is not due to the overall pattern formed by the two patterns together, but a combination of a positive reaction to the rewarded pattern and a negative reaction to the unrewarded pattern. Discrimination was performed equally well after covering one eye. One´tudie chez le lapin la reconnaissance entre des stries de diverses orientations. La distinction entre les striesa`45° et 135° de l'horizontale est aussi bonne qu'entre des stries verticales et horizontales. On montre que cette reconnaissance ne provient par de la figure globale re´sultant de l'ensemble des deux figures, mais de la combinaism d'une re´action positivea`la figure re´compense´e et d'une re´action ne´gativea`la figure non re´compense´e. La reconnaissance est aussi bonne si l'on couvre un ceil. Es wurde die Unterscheidungsfa¨higkeit des Hasen fu¨r die Orientierung von Streifenmustern untersucht. Die Unterscheidung von 45° und 135° gegen die Horizontale war ebensogut, wie die von Waagrecht und Senkrecht. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass die Unterscheidung nicht auf das Gesamtmuster zuru¨ckzufu¨hren ist, das durch die beiden Streifenmuster gebildet wird, sondern auf die Kombination einer positiven Reaktion auf das unter Beolohnung stehende und eine negative Reaktion auf das unbelonte Streifenmuster. Пoкaзaнo, хтo paзлихeниe oбъяcняeтcя нe oбщим видoм oбъeктa, oбpaзoвaннoгo пoлocaми oбoих нaпpaвлeний a coхeтaниeм пoлoжитeльнoй peaкции нa пoдкpeпляeмый oбъeкт и oтpицaтeльнoй peaкции нa нeпoдкpeпляeмый oбъeкт. Kaхecтвo paзлихeния нe yхyдшилocь пocлe oкклюзии oднoгo глaзa.
