Resumo

Seine and dip net samples taken on the spawning grounds in Rivière aux Pins were used to describe the growth of young-of-the-year brown bullhead (Ictalurus nebulosus Le Sueur). One-year-old and older bullheads were aged by counts of annual growth marks on sections of their pectoral fin bony ray. Several aspects of the growth of these fish were determined: a faster growth in length and weight in ma les than in females; the presence in Rivière aux Pins of two groups of bullhead, one more slowly growing and one more rapidly growing; the effects of tagging on growth; the isometric length–weight relationship; and variations of condition during the few months when spawners occupy Rivière aux Pins.
