ResumoABSTRACT. Kidney length was measured in 115 unselected neonates with portable real‐time ultrasound. The left kidney was slightly, but significantly, longer than the right. There was a positive correlation between kidney length and birthweight, but kidney size did not increase significantly after 36 weeks gestation. Further ultrasound studies of the newborn kidney will be of interest.
