Resumo

In this article we attempt a global analysis of the Iberian soliferreum , a short-range, heavy throwing spear, entirely forged in iron. All the available documentation is taken into account. We maintain that it originated North of the Pyrenees, and that it was introduced in Iberia during the sixth century b.C. together with other types of arms. We analyze the distribution of different variants of soliferrea , propose a taxonomy and make a catalogue. Similarities and differences with other types of weapons are also analysed.
