Strange particle production in 5 GeV/c π+p collisions

ResumoResults are presented on strange particle channel and reaction cross sections in 5 GeV/c π+p collisions. For the (quasi-) two body reactions π+p→Σ+K+, π+p→Σ+K∗+ (890), π+p→Σ+(1385)K+ and π+p→Σ+(1385)K∗+(890) the differential cross sections and spin density matrix elements are given. A20 and t0 production in the (KK)0 mode is estimated using a technique which eliminates A20f0 interference. Proton dissociation into strange particle pairs is investigated. A comparison is made of some of our reactions with their SU(3)-symmetric KN counterparts.
