ResumoMr Foot is a 52-year-old man with a chronic nonhealing wound of his lower leg. Because of the chronicity of his condition, he required numerous serial visits to Dr Luke's office as part of his treatment course. Initially, these visits focused on creating and maintaining an effective treatment plan. Once the treatment plan was established, however, the office visits naturally deviated away from medical conversation and more towards social conversation. On one particular follow-up visit, when Dr Luke asked his patient how he was doing, Mr Foot responded: "You'd know if you 'friended' me on Facebook."
