ResumoThe function of the anal sphincters following anterior resection of the rectum and Bacon type pull-through operation has been investigated. Our data have shown a significant decrease in the anal resting pressure after pull-through excision indicating an impairment in the sphincter function. Nevertheless the sphincter response induced by stretch receptor stimulation can maintain continence.
