Quasiparticle charge of FQH liquid from resistance fluctuation measurements

ResumoWe have studied resistance fluctuations as a function of magnetic field (B) and backgate bias (VG) at v = 13, 1, and 2 in a hi quality two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG). We find that, within an experimental uncertainty of ∼ 25%, the relation among the fluctuation periods ΔB, at fixed n, is ΔB(v = 13) = 3ΔB(v = 1) = 3ΔB(v = 2), but at fixed B, the r ΔVG is ΔVG(v = 13) = ΔVG(v = 1) = (12)ΔVG(v = 2). These results provide experimen excitations from the 13 FQH liquid is e∗ = e3 and that the flux quantum relevant to quantization of the semiclassical o Θ∗ = 3he.
