ResumoSamples of type 316 L stainless steel were fatigued at 300°C in vacuum at constant plastic strain amplitudes. An important secondary cyclic hardening occurred, mainly beyond the number of cycles corresponding to failure in air, which has been related to a particular microstructure similar to corduroy contrast observed on irradiated materials.
