Phosphorus compounds and reactions

The reactions o f t e r t i a r y phosphorus compounds w i t h dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and, on occasion, other acetylenic systems are discussed w i t h emphasis upon the synthesis of phosphorus heterocycles.The discussion i s d i v i d e d i n t o two sections.The f i r s t section surveys the reactions of open-chain t e r t i a r y phosphines, bis-phosphines and vinylphosphines w i t h acet-Y l e n i c systems while the second section i s concerned w i t h s i m i l a r reactions o f c y c l i c phosphines w i t h these alkyne d e r i v a t i v e s .Both sections record Syntheses of novel h e t e r o c y c l i c systems which, f o r the most p a r t , are inaccessible by more conventional routes.
