Resumo

This paper gives an example of practical results which can be obtained by a plane kinematic analysis of a movement using plane radiographs. It is an in vivo study of lateral flexion of the lumbar spine. The technique for identifying each vertebra is described. The methods for condensing geometrical and kinematic rough data obtained during in vivo testing of the spine are presented. Parameters arising from statistical calculations are defined; they allow one to characterize the behaviour of a single disc or of the whole lumbar spine. These numerical parameters are calculated in the case of clinically healthy subjects in the aim to establish the norms of these parameters, they are also calculated in pathological cases well defined by another way, as fusion of vertebrae, discopathies.
