ResumoSpecimens from two freshwater populations of the ninespine stickleback Pungitius pungitius in Poland showed morphologically differentiated sex chromosomes. A heteromorphic pair of chromosomes appeared only in male diploid cells. The Y chromosome was the largest chromosome in the P. pungitius karyotype.
