Resumo

Myths do not only help to evacuate the real, they also help thinking about and even anticipating it. As far as habitats and the evolution of residential practices are concerned, the myth of Robinson on his isle foregrounds a dilemma, only partly resolved at the time (witness Rousseau) : to stay or to come back ? Our contemporary practices, however, tend to get over this, announcing the shift from a monoresidential to polysedentary society. Thus, Crusoe's myth of settling in (with all of his doubts and pleasures) may help us unexpectedly to conceive the future...
