ResumoThe synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of the bifunctional ligand Tl(C5H4)P(CH3)2, the ring functional^metalloligand, [(η5-C5H4)P(CH3)2]2ZrCl2, prepared from it and the heterobinocular complex, {μ-(η5-C5H4)P(CH3)2]2ZrCl2}Mo(CO)4, are reported. This heterobifunctional ligand will complement work with metallocene complexes of C5H4)PPh2 because of the smaller steric demands and anticipated higher basicity of the dimethylphosphine unit compared to the diphenylphosphine group.
