ResumoAbstract The paper describes the introduction of the Customer Demand Center (CDC) at Fairchild Dornier Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. The CDC is a Concept Design Center‐approach dedicated to the preparation and procession of customer related aircraft modifications. After describing the development of the Concept Design Center‐approach, the principal idea and set‐up of a Concept Design Center is presented. The paper highlights some of the differences between the traditional application of Concept Design Centers and the specific purpose at Fairchild Dornier. Based on those differences, the adaptation of the three building blocks within a CDC is presented. Finally lessons learned are discussed.
