Resumo

Abstract Fibrinolytic activity of the mucosa of stomach and esophagus was higher in the patients with than those without liver cirrhosis. This activity of the esophageal mucosa in the patients with liver cirrhosis was higher in the patients was higher in the patients with than those without esophageal varices. These findings suggest that increased fibrinolytic activity in the mucosa of stomach and esophagus is one of the causes of esophago-gastric hemorrhage in liver cirrhosis.
