ResumoAbstract This presentation gives an assessment of the actual judicial control concerning the delimitation of the continental shelf. Before interpreting the role of International Courts and Arbitral Tribunals, the author gives a brief overview over the different categories of delimitation, the coastal state's rights over its continental shelf and outlines historic precedents of international disputes. Today, the Convention provides an comprehensive dispute settlement system. This system will be illuminated and reviewed by the presentation with special reference to the judicial control over the Commission's recommendations.
